Nokia is not the part of the Open Headset Alliance code, that supports Android OS for mobile devices, but still there is a growning complains about Symbian OS on Nokia touchscreen headsets. S60 Symbian is just not up to that task, it’s perfect for the older generation of the smart phones with qwerty keyboards

or/and regular phone keyboards. But still S60 interface is getting quite bad feedback from users who are using it on touchscreen devices. Embracing new open standard Android could be rather good business move, rather then adapting old S60 interface to support touchscreen interaction.

If those rumors are true, in Q4 we will see new Android powered Nokia, personally I can’t wait.

Some limited information has appeared in the beginning of the year about alleged preparation of the new entry level Canon DSLR, but that kind of rumors are frequent and usually more reflecting users wishes then real information from manofacturers.

Canon has released the new version of the Digital Photo Professional software for working with RAW files from Canon’s DSLRs. Somewhere in the specs of the new 3.4 version of DPP there is an point that the this version is compatible with Digital Rebel XS / EOS 1000D digital camera. The only problem is that kind of camera does not exist, or it exists but still it’s not published.

Besides the name of the new DSLR EOS 1000D there are no other information. But from the model number we can draw few conclusions.

While they were produced in the 90′, Canon’s DSLR models with four numbers in their mark were the cheap entry level film cameras, while he professional class was caring only one number in the model name.

As the manufacturer has started to produce digital SLRs, flagship DSRL has stayed with only one number in the model name 1D, 5D, but Canon has created second prosumer class with two numbers in the model name.

That kind of prosumer class was/is aiming to the advanced/richer photo amateurs and professionals with limited budget, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D.

With EOS 300D, Canon was recreating the DSLR history, 300D was the first DSLR under the magic $1000 price limit. That was the also the firstborn in the new entry level DSLR class, compact, too compact, plastic bodes, with out advanced functions, but extremely affordable.

After the presentation of the last DSLR in the entry level class EOS 450D, Canon was moving the bar much higher to the professional class. EOS 450D is the closest to the professional class as it can be.

Even after the new 450D was hit the stores, 400D and 350D were still avaliable, of course by the new lower price. The demand for 400D and 350D is still significant.

So based on all that, what we can expect from next EOS 1000D?

Too small compact plastic body, like 350D, previous generation optical sensor like that used 350D, but also some improvements probably in the internal image processing.

The price for EOS 350D body is about $400, and we can expect that the Canon will offer next EOS 1000D at some similar price, while the 350D will finally will be retired.

Roger wireless, one of the Canada’s biggest mobile operator, has mentioned on their regular press conference held for presenting financial data, that they have reached an agreement with Apple corp to sell iPhone on Canadian market.

Currently there are no details available about their agreement but one thing is certain, iPhone is coming to Canada to the end of this year. Roger’s representatives would’t answer are they are going to sell current iPhone version or they will start selling new 3G iPhone. New 3G iPhone is a subject of a rumors for a while now. Last rumor is that the new 3G iPhone, or iPhone 2.0 will be presented on WWDC conference in May.

Additionally there are rumors that iPhone will become available for south American market. But not via mobile operators like before, but via the network of franchise shops.

We will see soon WWDC is coming, and we are waiting…

They are saying that recently presented MacBook and MacBook Pro computers are the last computers in that line, cause Apple has prepared completely redesign of their entire laptop line.

As they are claiming, allegedly the entire news is based on the inside information coming from Apple, 13 inch MacBook laptop will be the main subject of redesign. That there will be no more that nice Apple plastic case, but that it will be packed in the aluminium steel case – similar like the Pro brothers.

They are predicting similar fait for the MacBook PRO line also, it’s expected that the new PRO line will be much visually closer to the lastly presented MacBook AIR style.

There are no too much details known about redesigned, but the rumors are that new Mac computer will have more black mate surfaces, large track-pad and MacBook AIR like keyboard. The line will stay the same with 13, 15 and 17 inch models, but all computers will be thinner and a bit lighter.

These rumors about redesign can really be truth cause we are in the end of the Apple’s industrial design cycle, usually about 18-24 mounts.

Other fact that we can take as an indicator that the new MacBooks are near, is that Intel has significantly reduced physical size of their motherboards for their current chip-sets. Not just that but they are preparing new Montevina type processors on their Centrino 2 platform based on second generation of Penryn prosesors. That all will result in more raw processor power, smaller device size, longer battery life and lower heat dissipation.

So when can we expect new MacBooks? Probably in the September or October, but before that Apple corp is probably going to present next generation of the MacMini’s and iMac systems based on Penryn processors.

So that you don’t need to carry a heavy tripod or invest extra money into every single stabilised lens, Olympus integrated a built-in image stabiliser into the camera body of the E-3, E-510 and E-520. It stabilises up to 5 EV steps (up to 4 EV steps with the E-510 and E-520), making it the most effective solution on the market.

As soon as the error was spotted, the page was changed, but event that short wile was enough to start rumouring about E-510 successor.

Appearing of new E-520 is a hardly a surprise, special after official presentation of E-420, all eyes are on Olympus, and we are all waiting their next step.

The photo on the top of this post was made on Photo Imaging Expo 2008 – photo equipment fair held in March in Tokyo. Olympus has shown prototype with out any markings but there is a great possibility that it represents the successor of current E-510 digital SLR camera.

Technology journalist Mark Stephens, famous as Robert X. Cringely said one of them will look like Blackberry Pearl, but with  a screen that flips. This will be high end model with lot of features, other one will be cheaper model with price under $100. This could be just a rumors, and until September Samsung’s plans could be changed or reogranize. I am sure in one year we will have a lot of Android phones on the market.

But, in the middle of December some photos appeared that shows prototype of new and until now unpresented 24-70 F2.8 Zeiss lens. These photos are looking quite real. If we examine last photo up-close, we can notice the “not for sale” sticker, meaning that this lens is a preproduction product for Sony partners testing purposes only.

And images of the Sony Alpha flash unit.

It’s quite possible that we will see premiere of these new Sony products on next PMA show on 31st January – only few days away. Also I wouldn’t we too surprised if Sony got few other ace in his hand, such as full-frame Alpha dSLR body. We will see, 31st January is not so far away.

The bad news is that everything focused around the iPhone 2.0 is merely speculation.  Apple themselves have not actually confirmed the new version of their top selling iPhone and are instead merely turning out more models of the current version.  This however does not mean a new version is not on its way; Apple does have a small habit of keeping a few secrets so this could very well be one of them.

As the rumors continue more are likely to build and the sheer number of people talking about the potential new configurations continues to grow.  Keeping track of all of the new rumors is not always easy, but it is important to remember that while a new iPhone 2.0 sounds like a really great idea it can be a very long time before it does actually launch.  While the Macworld estimated date is a very rough estimate there are others who are speculating that it will not possibly launch until around the end of 2008. 

The exact dates of the launch will continue to be speculated for a long time, but it will be rather interesting to see what details start leaking out slowly.  The good news is that the iPhone 2.0 should fix some of the major bugs that was noticeable in the initial launched phones.  This will allow plenty of chances to still have a great iPhone without the hassle of the bugs involved.

This fall was very very busy for digital camera manufactures, the absolute peek was revealing two new Nikon’s, D300 and first Nikon’s full frame camera D3. Canon’s response was appearing of new EOS 40D. And that was not all, Sony presented it’s new Alpha A700. Olympus refreshed its lineup with E-3.The sign that the winter is not going to be quiet was first annoucement from Pentax that they will present two new DSLR bodies in January, new K20D and K200D should replace current K10D and K100D.

Robert Westin frist Canons man for Sweden, in his interview for swedish digital photography site Kamerabild.se was very clear about new products that are expected in new year. He annouced that the year 2008 will be much more important for Canon then the last year and that the Canon company will present more new digital cameras compared to the current year.

So, what we can expect in the next year from Canon? First if we take a quick look on the current DSLR lineup, EOS 400D ( Digital Rebel XTi ) and Canon’s full frame body EOS 5D are in the end of its life cycle. So i wouldn’t be surprised if Canon presents successors of these two cameras in January.
