Long waited successor of G6 is here. New Canon PowerShot G7 will replace G6 which was launched in August 2004. In totally retro designed case Canon packed many new features. Main features of new G7 are new generation of image processing DIGIC III processor, 10MPix CCD and 6x (35-200mm , 35mm equiv) lens with optical stabilisation. Also some good things are still here like hot shoe for external flash unit. It have software face detection. ISO settings up to imaginative ISO1600. For now only thing that is missing is RAW mode. Announced price for this camera is about $550. And it will be available on market till the end of the year.

[...] The Canon announced successors of digital cameras in entry class. Canon A class offers maximum possibilities in compact case. All cameras in Canon A class have been designed with ease of use firmly in mind. New Canon A550 is a successor of the last years bestseller Powershot A530/A540. Comparing to previous model, new one is bringing new optical sensor with 7.1 Mpix, new lens with 4x optical zoom, large two inch display, a redesigned controls. Also two new cameras are presented in lowest price range, A450 and A460 replacing the previous A420 and A430, both cameras have 5.0 Mpix optical sensor and large 2.0 inch diagonal display. The A450 is using 3.2x optical zoom lens, while A460 is using 4x zoom lens, which is basically only difference between them. All three cameras have DIGIC II Canon image processor, witch is no surprising in lowest A4xx class, but honestly I was expecting newly developed DIGIC III image processor ( already presented in Canon EOS 400D and Powershot G7 ). Obviously this is no revolution, Canon produced tree more great cameras to substitute three great cameras. There are just enough improvements to stand out from last years model and nothing more. For now all eyes are on the next camera that will come from Canon ( A560 ) it should implement new version of DIGIC processor witch is more able to confront demanding processing image data from small sized sensor packed up with megapixels. All tree cameras are expected in the stores during February. [...]
